If you don’t know Fuck Buttons, then you should! ATP’s odd yet appropriately named duo combine entrancing noise and sophisticated electronics . The two ‘Fuck Buttons’ stood either side of the stage with a large kitchen table between them, and it was littered with everything from Sample Pads and Synthesizers to Children’s toy Microphones and tape recorders. There set comprised of a 2 hour wall of sound, building up layer upon layer of beautiful and harmonically rich synthesized tones and futuristic 8 bit bleeps. And to top this - both the ‘Buttons’ yell, scream and do everything necessary to rope the audience into their hypnotic display of droning electronic sounds.
On stage Fuck Buttons improvise like Jazz musicians, interspersing, entwining and extending songs, only they do it with electronics not Saxophones. The majority of their set was from their immense 2009 EP, ‘Tarot Sport’, and they closed the evening off nicely with Olympians –a medative prolonged drone of noise, feedback and organ synths, a simple electronica masterpiece.
